If you feel this way, know that you are not alone and there is always help.

You just must be open to it.

So what are the signs?

A lot of the time, people do not know they are depressed.

Some common signs are sleeping too much or not enough, thinking life doesn’t matter, feeling sad for days or weeks, and wanting to be alone all of the time.

Someone who is depressed may also not want to do things they usually enjoy and overeat or not eat enough.

If you feel this way in any way, then it is probably time to seek help.

Talking to someone can be very beneficial.

A lot of people have this idea that they should keep everything bottled in but this is one of the biggest mistakes they can make.

The more you hold things in, the more you risk exploding.

If you don’t believe in talking to a medical provider or counselor, then consider family and friends whom you trust.

Even a pastor or mentor could be helpful.

Support groups can also be a great resource.

Being able to express your feelings to someone is a reminder that you’re not alone, and you’ll be surprised at how many people go through the same problems and feelings that you do.

When you are depressed, it may be hard to do simple things like get out of bed.

Try doing small things like taking a shower, drinking water, going outside for fresh air, and calling a friend.

Taking these small steps may seem simple, but they will help your mind and your body feel a lot stronger.

Another good option is to keep your body active.

Stretch or dance to music, sweep or clean, or just take a short walk.

Whenever you move your body, it makes your brain feel much better.

One of the worst mistakes people make when depressed is resulting ton drugs and alcohol.

Drugs and alcohol always make depression worse.

Although it may make you feel numb for a short time, it will not fix the problem.

To get better, you have to believe that things can get better.

Depression can make you feel hopeless and can be extremely hard, but that does not mean it has to be the end of your story.

There is always help; you just must ask for it.

Remember, you are not alone, and your life has purpose.
