Drinking and driving are one of the most dangerous and inconsiderate things to do.
Unfortunately, I was one of those people that led to my arrest in 2016.
To be arrested for my irresponsibility was a wakeup call to myself to get my life together.
I totaled out my vehicle and was lucky to be alive.
After being placed on probation, my life was in someone else’s hand.
Not even to mention the Classes and fines, and license revoked, I had to learn how to move differently.
Having to schedule a uber everywhere I needed to go, made me realize how much of a privilege it was to be able to drive your own vehicle.
Drinking and driving has caused many deaths in the U.S, when drinking irresponsibility, your only thinking of yourself.
Going to d.u.i classes and watching videos of the family members who lost loved ones really struck a nerve.
As a mother of 2 children at the time, it made me realize how much i could have lost if the situation was worst.
Not to mention, the shame I felt from family members and friends who love me.
I promised myself to be more responsible with drinking and to make a conscious effort to never drink and drive again.
Everyone does not get a second chance or a do over in life.
Think of others, and the price you will have to pay when drinking and driving.
Some other obstacles you can run into after a D.U.I include:
Higher insurance, due to the negligence and the risk you are to companies will view you in a bad light.
Having to check in with a probation officer and the money you have to pay for the crime you committed.
Getting up early to catch a ride, because you are now dependent on someone else.
Having a D.U.I on your background can affect your pay and livelihood.
Some landlords and leasing companies, based on the severity of the d.u.i can hurt your chances of finding a home. Especially if you have a felony charge.
Even though I made a bad decision drinking irresponsibility, the consequences i endured made me a better person.
Now as I live life and go out to have fun, I think about my past and the outcomes before drinking and driving.

Having a d.u.i can also affect you while traveling and renting vehicles.
While on probation, you can lose your freedom to travel.
Life after a D.U.I is possible, taking the necessary steps in the right directions, you can overcome the embarrassment and shame of having a d.u.i.
Think of others before you drink and drive.
Many different groups and organizations offer sober activities and events.
Although DUIs do come with plenty of penalties in both the short, and long-term, it’s important to understand that you can still live a complete, thriving life.
